Campaign Program Phases

Campaign Program Phases

The Vision for Champions Campaign is a five-year, $12,000,000 advancement campaign consisting of four phases.

First Base: Securing the Talent
Goal — $ 3,000,000
The "First Base" phase will endow academic scholarships that provide the resources necessary to attract talented Christian student-athletes to DBU's NCAA Division I baseball program. Endowment gifts will generate income to fund 12 full scholarships annually. Your gift can be made to the DBU general baseball scholarship account, and a gift of $10,000 or more receives special fund naming privileges.

Second Base: Building the Home of Champions
Goal — $6,000,000
The "Second Base" phase will fund the building of a 2,500-seat stadium with parking, equipment, lighting, and all physical facility needs for NCAA Division I Championship baseball. The new stadium will accommodate the increased support from the community, and enable selection as a national playoff host and major tournament site. While a contribution of $2,000,000 or more will include stadium naming privileges, recognition opportunities are bestowed at all levels.

Third Base: Ensuring the Legacy
Goal — $2,000,000
“Third Base” acknowledges the need to fund operations — facilities maintenance, team travel, recruiting, uniforms and equipment, grounds keeping, and staffing. Your unrestricted gifts help the University ensure that NCAA Division I baseball at DBU is well-maintained and able to operate competitively in the future. Contributions ensure the legacy of DBU Baseball, and your gift of $10,000 or more receives special recognition.

Home Plate: Extending Our Reach
Goal — $1,000,000
"Home Plate" is about giving back to our community — to you. DBU is aware of the need to encourage a love of baseball and to model Christ to children and youth. The Home Plate phase will enable us to develop youth camps, clinics, inner city events, and the Center for Sports Discipleship to impact the community. Your contributions will enable us to fund these activities, and major endowment gifts will ensure naming opportunities for these special events.

Your contributions will ensure that baseball remains a vital part of DBU and an essential program that trains servant leaders and champions for Christ while touching the lives of thousands of people.

His best performance of the year came against UT-Permian Basin when he recorded 18 points, 17 rebounds, three assists, and two steals.
Kayla Marshall
Cheerleading

Kayla Marshall is the Female Athlete Spotlight for the month of March.  Marshall is a junior from Garland, Texas and is a member of the 2009-2010 Patriot Cheerleading Squad.

Marshall is a graduate from Dallas Christian School in Garland, Texas and is currently in her second year at DBU as a Patriot Cheerleader.  She has excelled both on the court as a cheerleader and in the classroom as a student.  Her performances have granted her the opportunity to graduate early with a bachelor degree in psychology in August of 2010 to begin her career as a Children’s Minister.

While at DBU, Kayla has had a heart for serving the community.  She has given her time and efforts as an avid contributor in the local community by serving in the children’s ministry at both the Fellowship First Baptist Church in Royce City, Texas, and New Liberty Baptist Church in Garland, Texas for the past two years.

Marshall has also participated in many community service projects with the Patriot Cheerleaders including partnering with First Baptist Church in Canton, Texas to provide child care for a local women’s ministry, participating in the DFW Greet the Troops program, and conducting cheerleading clinics while on the DBU Global Sports Mission Initiative mission trip to Seoul, South Korea in 2009.

“Kayla has been a great contributor to the Patriot Cheer Team.  She has served as a base and a back-spot and has excelled in both roles for a stunt group.  Kayla has the heart of a servant; she is using her love for children as a ministry for the Lord.  Seeing her serve with the team at different service projects has been such a blessing.  Her love and sweet spirit are contagious and bless everyone she comes in contact with.  Kayla will be missed in this upcoming year, but we have been grateful to have her part of the team these last two years,” said Head Cheer Coach Skyla Alvarado.
