Patriot Baseball players
Austin Elkins and
Duncan McAlpine were recently selected to the “Louisville Slugger's” and Ping!Baseball Freshmen All-American Baseball Teams for their performances as first-year Patriots during the 2010 season.
Austin Elkins, a freshman from Coppell, Texas, was voted to the PING!Baseball Second Team after working his way into the lineup only seven games into the season at shortstop. He finished the year with an impressive .341 batting average for the season, and finished with eight homeruns, 15 doubles, and 39 RBI. On April 4, against the University of Evansville, Elkins went 4-4 with one homerun and four RBI.
McAlpine, a freshman from North Richland Hills, Texas, was recognized as a PING!Baseball Third Team Freshman All-American selection. McAlpine started out the season as a designated hitter, but made appearances at first base, pitcher, and catcher throughout the year. After his first season in a Patriot uniform, McAlpine finished with 13 homeruns and 11 doubles. His RBI total of 51 was the third highest on the team. He homered in the first three games of his college career, all against UT-Arlington, collecting 10 RBI.
