The Patriot Bass Fishing team competed in The Texas Shoot out this last weekend on Lake Texoma for the Boat U.S. ACA Collegiate Bass Fishing Trail. Senior
Trent Newman and
Dakota Jones finished fourth on Texoma with 8.84 pounds while Senior
Zackary Hines and Sophomore
Reed Foster finished 17
th with 3.5 pounds. Â
"The first day we patterned the fish really well, but after getting four inches of rain throughout the day and night we knew the dirty water was going to be a factor for us," stated Newman. " It took us most of the day the second practice day to even find a bite and with the Texas Team Trail guys struggling the day before our tournament, we knew we had our work cut out for us," added Jones.
The Patriots performed well as a unit to find and locate the fish and to show for their hard work they finished in the top quarter of the field. "This lake was tough and we weren't very excited about only bringing one fish to the weigh in but we were pleased to know we finished in the top half of the field," Stated Hines.
The Patriot Bass Fishing Team will be back on the water May 17
th for the official practice days of the Boat US ACA National Championship where they will hope to secure their first of many national championship titles.
The Patriots will also be serving at the Legends of Lake Fork Tournament May 15
th and 16
th.
