Knight Signs With Blue Jays

Dallas Baptist senior third baseman, Nash Knight, signed a free agent contract today with the Toronto Blue Jays.  Knight, who played in 215 games during his four years at DBU and was one of only two Patriots to start all 61 games this year, will begin his minor league career tomorrow when he reports to Tampa, Florida.  With his signing, Knight joins former Patriots' Ryan Goins and Boomer Collins as the third player from Dallas Baptist to sign with the Blue Jays since 2009.

Perhaps best known for his spectacular play at third base, Knight was named to the Missouri Valley Conference All-Defensive Team each of the past two years.  Along with his solid defensive skills, Knight hit a career-best .292 as a switch-hitter and drove in 35 runs to go along with a pair of home runs and 13 doubles.  Knight also led DBU in two-out RBI's in each of the last two seasons, driving in 37 runs over the last two years in two-out situations.

With his signing, Knight adds his name to the list of one of the most impressive draft classes in the nation and becomes the 36th player to sign a professional contract at DBU since Dan Heefner became the program's head coach in 2008.
