The home of DBU Baseball, Horner Ballpark, was ranked as the 20th best venue for college baseball in the nation, as announced by D1Baseball.com today. In a recent survey sent to every full-time coach and sports information director across the landscape of NCAA Division I baseball, Horner Ballpark ranked No. 20, receiving three first-place votes and 29 points overall.
Horner Ballpark opened its gates on February 15, 2013, and since then has offered fans one of the most picturesque and unique experiences in all of college baseball.   Designed by HKS (Cowboys Stadium, Globe Life Park in Arlington, and more) and built by FJW Construction, Horner Ballpark exhibits a Georgian-style facade of dark red brick and offers state-of-the-art fan amenities throughout the stadium. With a capacity of 2,000 persons, Horner Ballpark contains four guest suites, a pavilion down the left field line for large groups, and party plazas along both sides of the concourse. With closed-circuit televisions throughout the park and the audio broadcast of the game piped into each suite and restroom, fans are never far from the action at Horner Ballpark.Â
Since Horner Ballpark opened for the 2013 season, DBU has posted an impressive .692 win percentage at the friendly confines, going 83-37 over the last four years. Horner Ballpark was also home to the 2015 Dallas Regional, as DBU played host to Oregon State, University of Texas, and Virginia Commonwealth.
Among the 25 ballparks ranked by D1Baseball.com, Horner Ballpark ranks as the 18th best stadium that is designated solely for college baseball. (This excludes No. 11 Haymarket Park, which is home to both the University of Nebraska and the Lincoln Saltdogs of the American Association of Independent Professional Baseball, as well as No. 16 TD Ameritrade Park, the home ballpark for Creighton University and the College World Series).
Listed below are comments made by voters in the recent D1Baseball.com ballpark survey.
• "Terrific ballpark and it sits next to the DFW National Cemetery. Whenever TAPS plays for a funeral, the game stops and all of the fans and players stand at attention for the duration of the song before resuming play. Gives you chills when you're in the stands."
• "Loved the campus and the atmosphere!"
• "Perfect sized ballpark for a school its size. It has a very homey feel and is incredibly functional."
