DBU Wins Inaugural NCAA Division II Home Game

The Patriots from Dallas Baptist University made it a point from the jump ball tonight to show the sell out crowd they were going to defend their home court. 

DBU started strong and finished even stronger beating Howard Payne University, 83-64.  With the win, the Patriots improve to 1-1, while the Yellow Jackets fell to 0-1 for the season. 

DBU spread the ball all around the court tonight with all 12 Patriots seeing action in tonight's contest.  The Patriots excelled on both ends of the court tonight.  On offense, DBU racked up 24 assists, 15 offensive rebounds, and shot 49% from field, while on defense they held the Yellow Jackets to 38% shooting from the field and forced them into 22 turnovers.

Leading the Patriots were Juniors Nick Michels, Manny Montano, and Erik Villarreal.  Michels continued his hot shooting by scoring 21 points, including a four point play off a three point field goal and foul.  Montano contributed with 16 points, 13 rebounds, and two blocked shots, while Villarreal dished out 13 assists and committed only four turnovers for the Patriots.

The Patriots will be in action again Tuesday, November 21, when they take on East Central University, at 7:00 in the Burg Center.
