DBU's basketball team suffered their second loss tonight to a defensive minded East Central University. The Tigers defeated the Patriots 69-60 in a hard fought battle. With the loss, DBU falls to 1-2, while the Tigers improved to 1-0 for the season.
On the night, DBU shot 34% from the field, 59% from the charity line, and 31% from the three-point arch. The Patriots however, did play tough defense holding the Tigers to 34% shooting and 27% from the three-point line. The difference in the game was the free throw margin, ECU made 22 free throws to DBU's 13, and rebounds, ECU pulled down 53 boards compared to 38 for DBU..
Leading the way for the Patriots was Juniors Nick Michels and Erik Villarreal and Freshman Eddie Gloviak. Michels had a slow night shooting but contributed with 15 points, while Villarreal added 13 points and four assists. Gloviak had his best night as a Patriot, scoring 12 points and grabbing five rebounds.
The Patriots will look to rebound from their poor shooting night on Saturday, November 25, when they travel to Magnolia, Arkansas, to take on Southern Arkansas University, at 7:00
