DBU spread the ball around the court, with four players scoring in double figures, which helped them defeat a improving Montana State-Billings team.  The Patriots defeated the Yellowjackets, 78-69, to improve to 5-10 overall and 2-3 in the conference, while MSU dropped to 2-13 and 2-2.

Dallas Baptist jumped out to an early 8-0 lead, which put the Yellowjackets in catch up mode, where they stayed all night.  DBU, who never trailed in the game pushed the lead to 40-24 at halftime, riding the hot shooting of Junior Dwight Coleman, who finished the half with 11 points and grabbed eight boards.

MSU, who struggled shooting all night, went eight for 35 from the field and five for 25 from beyond the arch in the first half.  The Patriots on the other hand hit 16 of 33 shots from the field and two of five from beyond the arch to push their lead to 16.

The Patriots however were not able to extend their lead in the second half and the cold shooting of the Yellowjackets started to heat up.  MSU used the three-point shot to close DBU's lead to five at one point.  DBU determined not to let the lead be cut anymore stepped up their defense and hit several timely shots down the stretch of the game to secure the victory.

DBU on the night shot 45% from the field, 40% from beyond the arch and grabbed a season high 43 rebounds, while holding the Yellowjackets to 35% from the field, 30% from the three-point line, and to 31 rebounds.

Leading the Patriots was Sophomore Brandon Wash, who scored 20 points and grabbed 10 boards, while Coleman ended up with 19 points and 15 boards of his own.  Also, having a strong night was Junior Nick Michels scoring 16 points and Freshman Eddie Gloviak, who added 10 points and four assists.

The Yellowjackets were led by Jeff Miner, who scored a game high 29 points, including hitting nine three-pointers.  Cody Samuelson contributed with 13 points, while Eric Cunningham had 15 points and seven assists.

DBU will look for the second win in a row and a winning record in conference play when they welcome Oklahoma Panhandle State to the Burg Center on January 20.  The Heartland Conference match up will begin at 7:00.
