Men's Basketball
DBU's Men's Basketball team lost their fifth game in a row Monday Night when they played Texas A&M International in Laredo, Texas. The Patriots who seemed tired from the opening tip off, were never in the game losing 88-64. With the loss, DBU falls to 3-8, while TAMIU improved to 6-5.
The Dustdevils, who had five players score in double figures looked sharp the whole night and refused to let the Patriots make any runs to get back into the game. TAMIU took a 37-24 at half time, off of 50% shooting from the field, while DBU shot 33%.
Texas A&M International built off of the momentum from the first half and extended their lead to 20 points in the second half to finish off the Patriots. For the game, DBU shot 41% from the field, 36% from the three-point line, and 72% from the free-throw line, while the Dustdevils shot 58% from the field and 66% from the charity line.
Leading all scorers was Angel Encinas, who scored 21 points and dished out seven assists, while Junior Nick Michels led the Patriots with 13 points and two assists. Sophomore Jonathan Teat and Freshman Eddie Gloviak both contributed with 10 points, while Junior Brandon Wash pulled down 11 boards for the Patriots.
DBU will be in action again on Monday, January 8, 2007, when they welcome the University of Incarnate Word, to the Burg Center for a Heartland Conference showdown at 7:00.
