The DBU Basketball Team ran to an easy 74-43 victory over Central Christian College on Wednesday afternoon. With the victory, the Patriots improved to 1-2 overall, while the Tigers fell to 5-3.
The Patriots were able to hold a comfortable 38-18 lead at half time off of strong defense and a team effort on the offensive side of the court. DBU spread the load on offense with nine players scoring at least two points in the first half. DBU also shot 47 percent from the field and forced the Tigers to commit 14 turnovers.
DBU did not let up in the second half and was able to push their lead to 30 points behind the hot hand of Freshmen guards Armie Lewis and Braxton Adamson. Lewis hit three of three from beyond the arch, while Adamson drained in two of four. The Patriots shot 50 percent from the three-point line in the second half.
The Patriots were led by Lewis, who scored his career high with 16 points, including four three-pointers. Sophomore Heath Wiechman also had a strong night with 11 points and four boards, while Adamson wrapped up his game with nine points.
DBU will look to continue their winning ways when they travel to Russellville, Arkansas, to take on Arkansas Tech, on November 27. The game is scheduled for 7:30.
