DBU traveled to Russellville, Arkansas, on Tuesday night to take on Arkansas Tech for the second time this year. The first game saw the Wonder Boys narrowly escape with a two-point victory. Tuesday night was a different story with Arkansas Tech taking control from the start and running away with the game in the second half. The Patriots could not seem to get anything going and suffered their third loss of the season.
The 99-81 loss to the Wonder Boys dropped the Patriots to 1-3 overall, while ATU improved to 4-1. DBU with the loss continued to struggle on the road, dropping their third in a row, including exhibition games.
The Wonder Boys took a 50-32 lead into the half after they went on a 15-0 run that knocked the air out the visiting Patriots. DBU struggled the whole first half scoring and continued to struggle with turnovers, after they committed 12 in the first half.
The second half was not any different with the Wonder Boys pushing their lead to 30 points at one point. ATU used the Patriots turnovers, which allowed them to score 40 points, and 52 percent shooting from the field to extend their lead.
The Patriots ended their night shooting 50 percent from the field, 45 percent from beyond the arch, and 66 percent from the charity line. The difference in the game was the turnovers with DBU committing 28 to only 16 for the Wonder Boys.
Leading DBU individually was Sophomore Eddie Gloviak, who scored 17 points and pulled down five boards, while Senior Nick Michels finished his night with 15 points and four rebounds. Senior Dwight Coleman contributed with 12 points and seven boards.
The Patriots will look to rebound from the tough loss on December 4, 2007, when they welcome Dallas Christian College to the Burg Center. The game is scheduled to start 7:00.
