The Patriots from Dallas Baptist University had four players score in double figures, including two score 20 points or more Tuesday in a 93-79, victory over Lincoln University. With the victory, DBU improved to 9-12 overall and 5-4 in conference play, while Lincoln fell to 5-15 and 2-7.
DBU came out of the gate running, scoring a season high 47 points in the first half. Seven different Patriots scored points in the first half, including 13 from Freshman Eddie Gloviak. DBU shot an astounding 53% from the field and 60% from beyond the arch to take a 47-39 lead into the locker room.
The Patriots continued their strong play to start the second half and used 16 second half points from Junior Nick Michels to secure the victory. Michels ended the game with a game high 26 points off of 9-12 shooting from the field and 2-2 from the three-point line.
Dallas Baptist with stood the physical play from Lincoln, who had two players foul out and five other players commit four fouls. The Patriots answered the physical play with smart offense and key defensive stops. DBU held the Blue Tigers to 45% shooting from the field, 26% from beyond the arch, and forced them into 21 turnovers.
The Patriots shot a scorching 57% from the field, 45% from three-point line, and dished out a season high 24 assists. DBU also grabbed 34 rebounds to only 26 for the Blue Tigers.
Gloviak finished off his night with 20 points, including hitting 10-12 free throws, while Sophomore Brandon Wash had 14 points and 11 rebounds. Junior Dwight Coleman contributed with 17 points, five rebounds, and two assists.
DBU will look to extend their win streak on Thursday, February 8, when they welcome St. Edwards University to the Burg Center for a Heartland Conference show down.
