St. Edwards used 13 field goals and seven three-pointers in the first half to build a 51-28 lead over DBU at the half way mark. With the 78-67 win, the Hilltoppers improved to 17-4 and 6-1 in conference play, while DBU fell to 9-13 and 5-5.
The Patriots could not find a rhythm in the first half and had no answer for the hot shooting of the Hilltoppers. St. Edwards started the game on a 24-3 run, which proved to be the difference in the game.
After the fast start by St. Edwards, DBU outscored the Hilltoppers 64-54, including outscoring them in the second half, 39-27. DBU will look to get back to their winning way when they welcome St. Mary's University to the Burg Center on Tuesday, February 13, for a 7:00 tip.
