St. Mary's University ran the Patriots out of the
Burg
Center on Saturday afternoon. The Rattler's defeated DBU on their home court 79-45, to improve their season record to 6-6 and conference record to 1-0, while DBU fell to 3-8 and 1-2.
DBU fell behind early and was not able to recover. The Ratter's never trailed in the game and used 51 percent shooting from the field to help extend their lead throughout the game. The Patriots were only able to connect on 28 percent of their shots and 11 percent from beyond the arch.
The Rattlers also out rebounded DBU 41-23, including pulling down 11 offensive boards that led to easy baskets for St. Mary's. The Patriots protected the ball only committing 12 turnovers but the lack of offense proved to be the difference.
DBU was led by Senior Dwight Coleman, who scored 11 points and grabbed five boards, while Senior Nick Michels scored 10 points in 31 minutes of play.
The Rattlers had four guys score in double figures, including Rod Bellard, with 12, Corey Harbert, with 11, Marcus Hill, with 10, and Latez Williams, with 12.
The Patriots will look to snap their five game losing streak on Monday night, when they take on Heartland Conference power house, St. Edward's. The game is scheduled to start at 7:00 in the
Burg
Center.
