DBU welcomed a well-tuned St. Edward's basketball team to the
Burg
Center on Monday night. The Patriots, who have struggled in the past five contests, matched the Hilltoppers intensity and competed with them down to the last minute.
DBU, however, could not get over the hump and suffered a tough 93-85 loss to St. Edward's. With the victory, St. Edward's improved to 8-4 overall and 1-0, while DBU fell to 3-9 and 1-3.
The first half saw each team slugging it out, with both sides going on significant runs. The Hilltoppers went on the first run of the game only to be matched by the Patriots, who cut the lead to six at halftime.

St. Edward's, who came out hitting on all cylinders in the second half, used 70 percent shooting from the field in the half to close out DBU. The Hilltoppers hit seven three-point field goals in the second half and 13 for the game, which proved to be the difference.
