The Patriots Basketball Team ran their way out of their slump on Wednesday night with a 33-point victory over Crowley's
Ridge
College . DBU defeated the Pioneers, 88-55, to snap their six game losing streak and improve their overall season record to 4-9.
The Pioneers played the Patriots tough early sticking around till about five minutes left in the first half. DBU used a couple CRC turnovers and went on a strong run to close out the half with a 50-33 lead.
DBU never looked back in the second half and wore down the Pioneers with pressure defense. The Patriots used their hard nose defense to force turnovers and convert them into easy fast break points to keep extending their lead throughout the game.
The Patriots shot the ball well, hitting on 50 percent of their field goals, but struggled from the charity line only hitting 15 of 23 attempts. DBU's defense held the Pioneers to 34 percent shooting from the field and forced them into 33 turnovers.
DBU rode the hot hand of Freshman Braxton Adamson, who scored a game high 18 points, with 14 of them coming in the first half. The Patriots spread the ball all around the court, with Sophomore Brandon Wash contributing with 15, Senior Nick Michels scored 10, Freshman Thomas Mathews punched in 12, and Sophomore Heath Weichman added 11 points.
The Patriots will look to use the momentum from this victory on January 15, when they welcome
Cameron
University to the
Burg
Center for a 7:00 contest.
