The Patriots outlasted the Wildcats in a 108-99 overtime victory in Abilene, Texas, Thursday night against the Abilene Christian University Wildcats improving DBU's overall record to 2-0.

DBU led throughout the first half of the game until Dante Adams from the ACU hit a clutch jumper to lock the two teams up at 32 with 3:13 to play in the half. Senior Shelby Lewis went on to hit a shot in the last 10 seconds of the half to take the Patriots into halftime with a slight edge on the Wildcats 41-39.

The Patriots looked to have the game in hand, but great composure from Wildcat Dejan Sencanski at the free throw line helped pull the Wildcats within striking distance. He drained 2 shots to tie the teams at 90. Sencanski for ACU led all scorers with 27 points and posted a perfect night from the free throw line going 10 for 10. The Patriots could not capitalize on their last second shot in the closing seconds of regulation to take the lead, forcing the two teams into a 5 minute overtime period.

DBU started overtime play with confidence scoring the first 4 points off of two key steals coming from Senior Shelby Lewis. The Wildcats could not close the gap in the closing minutes giving DBU their second win and improving their season record to 2-0. The Wildcats drop to 1-1 on the season.

Junior Eddie Gloviak led the Patriots late by putting up a team high 24 points. Gloviak was almost perfect from the stripe shooting 91 percent. Strong offensive support came from Patriot Junior Bryan Baumann. Baumann went 4 for 7 from behind the arc and 6 of 9 from the field to end the night with 20 points and 6 rebounds in only 27 total minutes on the floor.

Four other Patriots scored in double figures on the night. Senior Shelby Lewis finished the win off with 14 points, 8 assists, and 4 steals. Sophomore Braxton Adamson shot 50% from three posting 12 points, and 4 rebounds. Freshman Jordan McGowan and Sophomore Dean Pele both ended the night with 11 points.

As a team, the Patriots shot well ending the night shooting 47 percent from the field and 48 percent from long range. The Wildcats also had a good shooting night posting 44 percent from the floor and 42 percent from the 3-point line.

"The baskets seemed especially big tonight. It felt like neither team could miss from the outside. I was really proud of our team effort to continue to battle throughout the night. To have six players score in double digits is a sign of how many people contributed to the win, and our team defense made a couple of big plays down the stretch." Head Coach Blake Flickner said about the night.

The Patriots are back in action at home for DBU Homecoming 2008, as they host the Ecclesia College Royals in Burg Center Saturday, November 22, 2008. The Patriot Tailgate Party begins at 4:30 p.m. in The Quad at DBU, and the tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
