Patriots Stay Perfect With 72-63 Victory

The Patriots outlasted the Cameron University Aggies Saturday afternoon in a thrilling match up 72-63 to move to 8-0 for the season.

The Patriots jumped out to an early lead Saturday 21-9, but the Aggies brought it back with Aggie Dylan Gilliam leading the way, scoring 13 of his game high 28 points in the last eight minutes of the half.

DBU Junior Bryan Baumann hit a quick three to end the half and send the two teams into the locker room with the Patriots holding onto a slight edge over the Aggies 32-27.

The Aggies looked to be running on all cylinders as they tied the game at 46 with 8:34 to go, but the Patriots did not let up receiving 35 points from their bench throughout the game which played an important role in holding off the Aggie's late push.

The Patriots composure with the ball in the closing minutes of the game forced the Aggies to foul. DBU was 5 for 6 from the stripe in the final minute to finish off the Aggies 72-63 and move to 8-0 for the season. With the loss, Cameron moves to 3-4 on the season.

Junior Bryan Baumann (16 points, 4 steals, 3 assists), and Sophomore Braxton Adamson (16 points, 4 rebounds, 3 steals, 1 assist) for the Patriots had good overall games. Both players shot 50 percent from the floor, Baumann 5 for 10 and Adamson 3 for 6, to help the Patriots defeat the Aggies. Junior Eddie Gloviak also scored in double figures helping his team out by posting 12 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 assists.

Freshman Jordan McGowan was the difference maker on the glass for the Patriots as he pulled down 9 rebounds (8 defensive, 1 offensive) and scoring 9 points of the bench in the win.

The Patriots are back in action as they travel to Lawton, Oklahoma , on December 20, 2008, for another match up against the Cameron University Aggies. The tip is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
