Patriots Fly Past Eagles In 96-45 Victory

The Patriots hosted the Rhema Bible College Eagles Saturday afternoon in the Burg Center . The Eagles kept it close early until the DBU offense caught fire putting up big numbers. The Patriots finished off the game with a win 96-45 to move to 7-0 for the season.

Sophomore Dean Pele led the Patriots offense with 14 points in only 13 minutes playing time to give DBU a commanding 47-22 lead going into halftime. Pele shot 5 for 8 from the floor and had 7 rebounds in the half.

The Patriots did not let up in the second as Senior Shelby Lewis started an 11-2 run as he connected on a three point attempt to boost their lead to 34 points.

The Eagles were able to receive good performances from starters Gabe White and Robert Sanders. White scored 15 points and pulled down 6 rebounds, and Sanders posted 12 points and 4 rebounds.

The Patriots had good team effort as six players scored in double figures. Sophomore Braxton Adamson led all scorers with 17 points shooting 6 for 11 from the floor. Sophomore Dean Pele finished with 14 points and 8 rebounds.

Junior Heath Wiechman came off the bench and contributed big with 11 points and 5 rebounds. Senior Shelby Lewis and Junior Eddie Gloviak scored 10 a piece. Freshman Jordan McGowan was one rebound shy of a double double as he pulled down nine while scoring 10 points.

The Patriots finished off the Eagles in convincing fashion as they won 96-45 to improve to 6-0 for the season.

"We had great success today on both sides of the ball. Our team showed how unselfish ball can win games. The guys racked up 25 assists on the day!" Head Coach Blake Flickner said about the win. "Being able to hold the other team to low shooting percentages with our tight defense we were able to find open looks on the offensive side of the ball. Now we focus on our match up against Cameron University."

The Patriots are back in action December 13, 2008, as they host Cameron University in the Burg Center . Tip off is schedule for 2:00 p.m.
