Patriots Men's Basketball Team took care of business on the road after they defeated Lincoln University, 89-79, on Monday night. With the victory, the Patriots gave themself a two game lead for fourth place in the Heartland Conference, which puts them in a great position to earn a bid to the Heartland Conference Tournament.

The victory extended DBU's win streak to six games and improved their overall record to 11-14 and Heartland Conference record to 4-5. Lincoln on the other hand fell to 7-16 overall and 2-5 in conference play.

Lincoln came out determined to revenge their loss to the Patriots earlier in the season win DBU defeated the Blue Tigers in Dallas. With revenge on their mind the Blue Tigers played aggressive defense and forced DBU to commit several turnovers in the first half, which allowed them to take a two point lead into the locker room.

The Patriots, however, regrouped at half time and came out in the second half on a mission to run away with the game. DBU used their strength down low and pressured defense to go on a significant run that allowed them to take the lead and push it to 15 points at one time.

The Blue Tigers refused to give up and continued to force the Patriots to commit turnovers, who ended up turning the ball over 21 times. Lincoln used the turnovers to their advantage and cut the Patriots lead to single digits, but DBU would not let the game slip out of their hands on the defensive end of the court. DBU again made the stops when needed and knocked down key free-throws to close out the victory.

Sophomore Eddie Gloviak led the way for the Patriots, scoring 16 points, while Senior Manny Montano contributed with 14 points and eight boards. Senior Nick Michels and Freshman Armie Lewis each scored 11 points, while Junior Brandon Wash threw in eight points and grabbed a team high 11 boards.

The Patriots shot an astounding 55.7 percent from the field, while holding the Blue Tigers to 39.2 percent shooting. DBU also outrebounded the Blue Tigers by 10 boards, after they pulled down 45 to only 35 for Lincoln.

The Patriots will be in action again on February 21, when they travel to Laredo, Texas, to take on Texas A&M International University.
