Men's Basketball
The Patriots Basketball Team picked up their third straight victory on Saturday night when they defeated UTPB, 82-64. DBU used a strong second half to pull away and close out the victory. With the win, the Patriots improved to 8-14 overall, while UTPB fell to 7-13.
The first half was a close contest with each team grabbing a lead. The Patriots went on a run with three minutes left in the half to pull to a two-point lead at the half. Freshman Braxton Adamson continued to stroke from outside the arch, when he led the way in the first half with 13 points, including knocking down five of six shots.
DBU came out connecting on all cylinders in the second half and extended their lead to 21 points at one time. Freshman Jared Whitmire came off the bench to give the Patriots a lift, when he knocked down a huge three point basket to ignite DBU's 15-2 run.
The Patriots continued to play great team defense after they held the Falcons to 27 percent shooting for the game and forced them into 19 turnovers. DBU also had nine steals and converted several of the steals into easy baskets.
DBU shot the ball well as a team connecting on 50 percent from the field, 40 percent from beyond the arch, and had 22 assists. Leading the attack for the Patriots, was Adamson, who finished off his night with 23 points and three assists, while Senior Manny Montano contributed with 15 points, six rebounds, and five blocks.
The Patriots will look to continue their win streak on Monday night, when they welcome Lincoln University to the Burg Center for a 7:00 contest.
