The DBU Patriots improved to 4-2 on the season as they defeated the Siena Saints 13-3 at Patriot Field on Friday afternoon. The Saints fall to 1-7 for the season.
Starting pitcher Sophomore Jared Stafford allowed eight hits, and three run, two earned and one unearned through six innings getting the win moving to 1-1 on the year.
Leading the Patriots at the plate was Junior Ryan Goins with two homeruns, one walk, finishing the afternoon 3 for 4 with five RBI.
Junior Brett Wade added a scoreless seventh inning in relief, while Senior Kevin Aduddell pitched a perfect eight inning, striking out the side. Senior Jeremy Parrish closed out the ninth inning without allowing a hit and keeping the score 13-3.
The Patriots started the scoring in the bottom of the first inning when Sophomore Jason Krizan reached first on a fielders choice, then stole second scoring Junior Ryan Enos from third.
The Patriots extended their lead in the second when Enos hit a two RBI single scoring Freshman Ryan Behmanesh and Senior Clay Kelly, who both singled to start the inning. Junior Ryan Goins added three more runs when he hit a three-run homerun over the right field fence, scoring Enos and Freshman Landon Anderson, who also singled.
The Saints managed to get one run on the board in the third inning off of Junior Jared Stafford. The Saints added another run in the fourth and one unearned run in the fifth.
Goins led off the fifth with a solo shot to right field, and then an RBI single from both Behmanesh and Kelly scored two more to leave the score, 9-3.
The Patriots are back in action on Saturday afternoon as close out the three game series against Siena at Patriot Field. The first pitch is slated for 12:00 noon.
