The Dallas Baptist University Patriots Baseball Team dropped to 32-12 for the season on Saturday afternoon as they suffered a loss from Texas A&M University by the score of 8-2. With the win, the Aggies improve to 31-16 on the season.
Starting pitcher Senior Chris McMullen was stuck with the loss falling to 6-3 on the year. McMullen pitched four and two thirds innings allowing five runs, four earned, on eight hits while striking out one. Sophomore Chris Haney pitched two and one third innings in relief allowing two runs on four hits, striking out two Aggie batters. Freshman Ryan Behmanesh pitched one inning in relief allowing one run on two hits.
The game was scoreless until the Aggies managed to score four runs in the bottom of the fourth inning and one run in the fifth off to take the early lead, 5-0.
The Patriots were held scoreless through the fifth inning stranding five runners. In the top of the sixth inning the scoring drought was broken as Junior Ryan Goins led off the inning with a single, before crossing the plate on a Senior Brandon Bantz double down the left field line, leaving the score, 5-1.
DBU added another run in the top of the seventh inning when Senior Trevor Head led off for the Patriots, hitting a single to center field to reach base, then advanced to second base. Head advanced to third on a Junior Ryan Enos groundout, then scored on a Junior Austin Knight RBI single to right center field to leave the score 5-2.
The Aggies offense produced two runs in the seventh inning and one run in the eighth to finish off the Patriots by the score of, 8-2.
The Patriots are back in action at Patriot Field on Wednesday, May 6, as they welcome the Texas Tech Red Raiders to campus for a mid-week match up. The first pitch is slated for 6:30 p.m.
