Patriots Fall to Texas Tech Red Raiders, 9-6

The Dallas Baptist University Patriot Baseball fell to the Texas Tech Red Raiders on Wednesday evening, by the score of 9-6 at Patriot Field. The Red Raiders used 21 hits on the evening to improve to 21-27, while the Patriots fall to 32-14 on the season.

Sophomore Chris Haney was stuck with loss, pitching one third of an inning, allowing two runs and falling to 4-4 on the season.

The Red Raiders drew first blood in the top of the first inning, on a single, walk and a two RBI double to take an early 2-0 lead.

The Patriots came out strong in the bottom of the second inning, scoring five runs. Junior Travis Meiners started the inning off with a walk, followed by walks by Senior Trevor Head and Juniors Ryan Enos and Austin Knight, scoring one run. Junior Ryan Goins followed by blasting a grand slam over the left center field wall, making the score 5-2.

Meiners added a solo homerun in the third inning to increase the score to 6-2.

Texas Tech scratched one run in the fourth and added four runs in the fifth inning to take the lead. Tech used six hits to chase DBU starter Junior Victor Black from the game, leaving the score 7-6.

Tech added single runs in the sixth and eighth innings to make the score 9-6.

The Patriots are back in action when they host Utah Valley University in a three game series at Patriot Field beginning on Thursday evening at 6:30.
