Box Score

The Dallas Baptist Patriot Baseball Team suffered a 6-2 loss against Wichita State University on Thursday evening. The loss drops the Patriots to 28-25 on the season, with only two games remaining on the schedule.

Leading the way at the plate for the Patriots was Junior Jason Krizan, who went two for three with a homerun and one RBI. DBU starting pitcher Junior Brandon Williamson battled all night and settled down after a rough start to go eight innings, striking out eight batters and giving up six runs.

DBU fell behind early as Wichita State scored two runs in the bottom of the second inning off three hits and a fielder's choice to take an early 2-0 lead.

The Shockers would add to their lead in the bottom of the third inning on a two-run homerun to center field, putting the Patriots in a 4-0 hole. Wichita State then put together a two out rally in the bottom of the fifth to score two more runs, making the score 6-0.

The Patriots would not go away easy as they got on the board in the top of the sixth off a solo homerun by Krizan, his 11th of the year, to make the score 6-1.

In the top of the eighth inning, DBU added another run to make the score 6-2. Junior Tyler Robbins led off the inning with a single to center field and advanced to third on a two base error. Krizan walked and Senior Ryan Enos followed with a single to left field, scoring Robbins to collect his 57th RBI of the year.

The Patriots were unable to push any more runs across the plate in the ninth, resulting in a 6-2 loss.

The Patriots will be back in action tomorrow night against Wichita State for game two of the series. Game time is set for 7:00 pm.
