Patriots Swept by Wichita State after 2-0 Loss

Box Score

The Dallas Baptist Baseball Team suffered their fourth loss in a row, as Wichita State completed the three game sweep of the Patriots with a 2-0 win Saturday afternoon in Wichita. With the loss, the Patriots finish the regular season with a 28-27 overall record.

The third game of the series proved to be a close one as both pitching staffs had stellar performances. Hits were very hard to come by, with both teams collecting only three hits apiece, and the Patriots also getting 4 walks in the game.

DBU starter, Freshman Aaron Gilbreath had a good performance as he went four and two thirds innings, striking out five, scattering three hits and giving up two runs before being forced out of the game, after being hit in the leg. Junior Jared Stafford relieved Gilbreath in the fifth, striking out two and allowing no hits and no runs for the remainder of the game.

Wichita State broke the scoreless game in the bottom of the fourth inning, as they scored two runs with two outs to take a 2-0 lead.

The Patriots looked to rally in the ninth inning as Freshman Duncan McAlpine led off the inning with a walk and advanced to second on a passed ball, but the Patriots were unable to get him across, ending the game with the 2-0 loss.
