The DBU Patriot Men's Soccer Team was handed another heartbreaking one-goal loss, Saturday, losing a 1-0 decision to visiting University of Texas-Permian Basin. The Patriots fall to 1-5-0, 0-2-0 in Heartland Conference play.
Dallas Baptist led the way in shots and shots on goal in the contest, but a Tyler Gibson goal with less than 10 seconds left in the first half proved to be the difference for the visiting club. All totaled, the Patriots fired 19 shots, five of them on target, compared to 12 shots, three on goal for the Falcons.
Brian Robertson put in the top offensive effort for the home club, getting off seven shots, three on goal.
Eric Beltran worked most of the contest in goal for DBU, allowing the one goal and registering a pair of saves.
For UTPB (4-1-0), Chris Branum had four saves in earning the shutout to move to 2-1-0 on the season. Jose Anchondo registered the assist on the Gibson goal.
The Patriots will take to the road over the next two weeks, playing contests at Oklahoma Christian University, Newman University, Texas A&M-International, and St. Mary's University.
