Men's Soccer Returns Home Monday

DALLAS – The Dallas Baptist Men's Soccer team hosts McMurry in non-conference action in the first home game of the regular season. The match is slated for 7 pm on Monday as the Patriots (1-4) look to end a four game slide since winning the season opener.

THE WEEK THAT WAS - This week's action has posed its share of challenges for DBU, beginning with Thursday's match being rescheduled, due to inclement weather. DBU and No. 8 West Texas A&M had played for 30 minutes before the bad weather struck, with DBU trailing 1-0.

Saturday brought another close game that needed overtime to decide to outcome. It was Eastern New Mexico that rose up 2-1 with a Jose Hernandez game-winner at the 95:34 minute mark. DBU showed resilience again as Brian Robertson tallied his first goal of the season in the 84th minute on a penalty kick to bring the score 1-1. The Patriots are now 1-3 in one goal games and have lost their last two in overtime.

SCHOBER GUARDING THE NET – Sophomore Chuck Schober is providing solid play again in his second season as the Patriots goalkeeper. The McKinney, Texas, native has combined for 21 starts in his career, including all five this year. In the young season, the sophomore posted a season best nine saves on Saturday at ENMU and now moves to 75 total for his career.

COACHES QUOTES – "We are proving each and every game that we are right there," second year Head Coach Chris Crawford mentioned following Saturday's overtime loss. "This team has a lot of heart and fight and never quits," Crawford added. "I couldn't ask for more from a young team."

SCOUTING THE WARHAWKS - McMurry (1-3-1) won its first game of the season on Saturday against Howard Payne University 4-0. The route was led by Cody Gentry notching his first career hat trick. Neil O'Sullivan picked up five saves in the shutout.

In its first year in the Heartland, DBU faced McMurry three times, including the NCCAA Regional Tournament. The Patriots finished 0-3 overall beginning with a double overtime defeat 2-1 at Patriot Soccer Field. Later in the season, DBU was shutout 1-0 and 2-0 in Abilene, Texas and in the Regional game, respectively.

ON THE ROAD AGAIN – The Patriots opened with their first six contests on the road, and will suit up for two more following Monday's action. A week and a half off will provide some rest for the team as Heartland Conference play opens with a pair of games at McMurry and St. Edwards. This concludes a stretch of eight of nine on the road before the Patriots enjoy a season-long six game home slate.
