THE RUNDOWNThe Dallas Baptist Women's Soccer Team knocked off Texas A&M International University in a 2-0 result on Saturday. DBU (8-3-1, 2-1) improves to 6-1-1 away from its home confines, and the team notched its eighth shutout overall.
The Patriots have also won four-straight since a double-overtime setback at Patriot Soccer Field versus St. Edward's University two weeks ago.
A 22-7 shot advantage reflected the evening for Dallas Baptist, as junior
Ashley Cox paced the squad with a game-high, six. It is the fifth time the Midlothian, Texas, native has tallied that many this campaign and is one shy of her season-best.
Cox was responsible for maneuvering DBU's final goal in the victory, while senior
Lea Sedwick punched what would be the only necessary goal fairly early in the second half.
Junior
Lindsey Eccles followed with four attempts, and a pair of Patriots contributed three. Forming that duo were junior
Emilie MacDonald and sophomore
Rebecca Kernen.
Rounding out the group with multi-shot efforts were junior
Jolee Patterson and freshman
Leah Draper.
Senior
Kerry Edwards (8-3-1) faced seven shots, and turned away five of them for saves in the victory.
HIGHLIGHTS DBU accumulated 13 shots in the opening half, but were unable to show much on the scoreboard as both teams remained scoreless at the break.
The Patriots got called for offsides three times in this match, and two of them prevented a scoring result.
Still, the road team remained on the attack throughout most of this one, and finally broke into the back of the net on a sequence involving Sedwick and MacDonald.
It occurred at the 58:30 minute mark as Sedwick earned her second netter of the year, and MacDonald extended her point-streak to a team and season-high, four matches.
Cox added an insurance goal in the 88
th minute to lock this one down for the Patriots.

TOP QUOTE"It was a little hotter today than we have had the last couple of weeks and it took us a little while to adjust. We started off strong but didn't finish some early chances, and it stayed closed a little longer than it should have. I thought we did well today to stay in it mentally even when it didn't go our way right away.
We had two goals disallowed for offsides and although that can be discouraging the girls did a great job of being resilient and keeper after it. The first goal by Lea was just an outright effort, as she wasn't going to be denied.
Ashley's late goal was what we needed to ensure the win and neutralize the game a bit. Overally a good conference win on the road. We did what we needed to today." – Women's Soccer Head Coach
Michelle Lenard.
