Volleyball Ends Year With Win Over Dustdevils

THE RUNDOWN
With no post season play on the horizon the Dallas Baptist Volleyball team did not let that deter them from competing at a high level as they defeated the Texas A&M International Dustdevils, 3-1 spoiling their "Senior Night". Carly Hess led DBU with 12 kills and Kaycie Bird dished out 28 assists.

In the first set of the afternoon Texas A&M International would take advantage of many multiple point streaks. The first of their point streaks would start with Dallas Baptist up 3-2, and the Dustdevils would respond by scoring four straight points to a, 6-3 lead. This would continue through the set as TAMIU would have a total of four scoring runs where they scored at least three consecutive points. The offense would be too much, as the Lady Patriots fell in the first set, 25-16.

Early in the second set with the score tied 2-2, the Lady Patriots would erupt to score five straight points to take a 7-2 advantage against the Dustdevils. After a TAMIU score, DBU would then follow up by scoring eight of the next 12 points extending their lead to, 15-7. It would be smooth sailing for the Lady Patriots for the rest of the set as they would claim the win, 25-17.

Midway into the third set TAMIU would go up on DBU, 11-10. The lead would be brief for the Dustdevils as DBU would score six of next seven points building a, 16-12 cushion. TAMIU would generate enough offense to pull within two points of the Lady Patriots, 16-14 the Lady Patriots would respond by scoring four straight points to go up, 20-14. The Dustdevils would have no answer for the DBU offense as they would seal the set, 25-19.

In the final set of the night the two squads would battle back and forth to a 19-19 tie late in the set. The Lady Patriots would put the Dustdevils out of their misery scoring six of the last seven points to end the set, 25-20 and secure the match.
