DBU Wins Third Straight in 6-1 Victory Over UTPB

THE LEAD
Dallas Baptist University earned another big win in a 6-1 decision over UT-Permian Basin on Saturday evening. In front of a crowd of 262 at Tom Landry Stadium in Addison, Texas, senior forward Ashley Cox scored two goals for the second game in a row to fuel the Patriots high-scoring offense.

Forward Maddie Owen found herself on the other end of a scoring play again, netting her third goal in two matches. Lindsey Eccles, Rebecca Kernen and Jolee Patterson also joined in on the Patriot scoring spree.

Goalkeeper Jenna Ackerly made four saves in the net for DBU before handing over the duties to Grace Johnson in the 76th minute. Johnson allowed the Falcons' only goal, but also made three saves.

COACH MICHELLE LENARD – ON CHANGES AFFECTING THE GAME
"We are happy to get a positive result after having to go off campus and to play on turf. These are not things that we had necessarily prepared for this week. With the weather and having to make the adjustments, I'm happy to see the girls come out and play at a level that gets us a good win."

DEFENDER MACKENZIE RICE – ON DEFENSIVE SUCCESS
"I think we've just been communicating well back there. We work as a team, and people in the middle are making it easy on us to get the ball ahead."

FORWARD ASHLEY COX – ON KEYS TO OFFENSE
"We definitely wanted to focus on our runs again, on and off the ball. We wanted to make sure we used the outsides. They were giving us a lot of space down the sides, and we wanted to make sure we got around them. It definitely worked today."

5 – DBU reached 10 regular season wins for the fifth consecutive season.
10 – The Patriots fired off ten shots in the first half alone, compared to UTPB's three.
