THE LEAD
Dallas Baptist University fell to Newman 1-0 on Thursday at Wilkins Field in Wichita, Kansas. The Jets earned the lone goal of the match on an own goal in the 70^th minute, when a DBU defender headed in a Newman cross.
 
DBU goalkeeper Mason Stringer made six saves, and the Patriots were held to just two shots on goal. DBU falls to 5-5-1 and Newman improves to 6-4-1.
