DBU and Bethel Battle to 2-2 Draw in Extra Time

THE LEAD
Dallas Baptist University and Bethel College tied 2-2 in the group play opener for both teams in the 2015 NCCAA Men's Soccer Championships. Freshman Michalin Dennie scored his fourth goal of the season to level the score at 2-2 in the 78th minute to secure a point for the Patriots in the group table.
 
The Pilots took a quick 1-0 lead in the ninth minute on Pedro Amaral's 18th goal of the year. Bethel held its lead through the first half, but DBU defender David Fraga scored the equalizer in the 56th minute off a deflection from Pilots' goalkeeper Isaach Lindahl.
 
Bethel took a 2-1 lead just six minutes before Dennie's game-tying goal when Lukas Muszong found Helton Moura for the open shot. Neither the Patriots nor the Pilots were able to score a winner in extra time.
 
IN THE NUMBERS
4 – DBU goalie Sean Bouland recorded a career-high four saves in the match.
1 – The Patriots allowed just one shot to Bethel in both periods of extra time.
15 – DBU racked up 15 shots, its most since the regular season finale against TAMIU (17).
