THE LEADNo. 13 Dallas Baptist extended the nation's longest current home win streak to 15 with a 12-1 win over Abilene Christian in seven innings on Tuesday night at Horner Ballpark. A four-run first inning and a seven-run fifth ignited DBU's offense in a game that was called due to the 10-run rule in the seventh. With the victory, the Patriots (23-3) won for the fifth straight time and have now won 17 of their last 18 games dating back to March 6th.
Â
After DBU starter,
Gavin Fritz, worked out of a jam with a runner at second and nobody out in the first, the Patriots jumped on Abilene Christian's, Chris Altimont.Â
Daniel Salters began the Patriot rally in the first with an RBI single, followed by a sacrifice fly by
Tagg Duce that scored
Camden Duzenack. Leading 2-0 with two outs,
David Martinelli smashed his team-leading seventh home run of the year with a two-run shot over the wall in right-center.
Â
ACU (6-19) would counter with their lone run of the night in the third, cutting the Patriot lead to 4-1. Leading by three into the fifth, DBU exploded for seven runs, started by another single from Salters that plated a run. With two runners on for
Tagg Duce, last week's Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Week blasted a three-run homer over the left-center field wall to put the Patriots on top, 8-1. An RBI single from
Chane Lynch and then a two-run base hit by Duzenack opened the Patriot lead to 10 through five innings.
Â
The Patriots' final run would come on another single from Duce that brought home Salters to make it 12-1 DBU. With the base hit, Duce drove in his fifth run of the night.Â
Â
Leading by 11 and heading into the seventh inning,
Landon Wilson took the hill and retired the side in order to cap off a game that was called in the seventh due to the 10-run rule.

DBU HEAD COACH, DAN HEEFNER – ON THE TEAM'S PERFORMANCE TONIGHT"I was proud of the way our guys came out and played with great focus tonight. These are the type of games where you have to give a championship type effort and I felt like we did that tonight. Offensively, we put together some great at-bats and battled deep into counts and I also thought the
Gavin Fritz was sharp on the mound and gave us five solid innings."
