THE LEADThe DBU Men's Basketball team's eight-game win streak came to a halt after a 78-57 loss to Lubbock Christian on Saturday at the Rip Griffin Center in Lubbock. DBU (14-5, 8-3) was held to just 35 percent shooting on the afternoon, while LCU shot 54 percent from the field and was led by an 18-point performance from Marcos Schuster.Â
Myles Johnson paced DBU with 12 points.
Â
The Chaps jumped out of the gates early, opening up a 10-point lead within the game's first five minutes. DBU answered with a 13-5 run to pull within two points at 20-18, but that would be as close the Patriots would come, as LCU outscored DBU 19-6 over the final nine minutes of the half.
Trailing 39-24 at the break, the Chaps opened up a 22-point lead when Matthew Alford completed a three-point play with 16:07 remaining. The Patriots were never able to draw closer than 17 points, as LCU maintained their commanding lead behind 55 percent shooting in the second half. With 1:13 left in the game, a three-pointer by LCU's Ridrell Holman punctuated a dominant performance and gave the Chaps their largest lead of the game at 25.

DBU HEAD COACH BLAKE FLICKNER ON TODAY'S LOSS ON THE ROAD"Early in the game we had some costly turnovers that led to some easy buckets for them and put us in a hole. Today, LCU was the better team. We have to give them a lot of credit for really turning the tables from the first game. It's a great reminder that it is always difficult to get wins on the road. Luckily, we don't have time to respond with 'woe is me.' We have to get back after it and bounce back with a quick turnaround for another road game on Monday."
