THE LEAD
The Lady Patriots were their own worst enemy today as DBU struggled to find some consistency. However, credit is due for a talented Lubbock Christian team that did not make points come easy for the Lady Patriots. A few bright spots for DBU came from
Madeline Dolberry who played well from her middle blocker position as she recorded 6 kills and a block.
Lauren Nicks also put together another solid performance as she led the match with 11 digs.
Â
The first two sets were owned by LCU as the Lady Patriots had trouble with service and hitting errors. Lubbock Christian jumped out to a quick 2-0-match lead after winning 25-13 and 25-14 in the first two sets.
Â
DBU cleared up some of their mistakes in the third set and they battled LCU to a 12-12 tie score. Lubbock Christian followed this with a strong 5-point swing that gave them a 20-14 lead. However, it was fascinating to see how the Lady Patriots responded as they fought their way back into the game and score four consecutive points. This brought the score to 20-18 as LCU had a narrow lead. DBU could only record one more point the rest of the set, which gave LCU the 25-19 set and match victory.

COACH KOKEL ON BATTLING WITH THEMSELVES
"[LCU] didn't get as many blocks as they usually do because we had a lot of hitting errors so that continues to be a thorn in our side. Our toughest opponent has been ourselves but when we're able to pass the ball and get a quick offense we can't terminate the ball so we got keep that as our focus. Servicing and executing defense so we can run a quicker offense."
