MD Johnson (3-2) allowed just one run on four hits through five innings to earn the win. Matt Michalski (1-2) suffered the loss after giving up four runs on six hits in four innings of work.

The Mavericks got one on the board in the opening half inning when Colton Turner grounded out to shortstop
Connor Hall, allowing Matt McLean to score. The Patriots answered in the bottom of the first with three runs, led by a two-run two-out single off the bat of second baseman
Luke Stratman. Johnson retired nine straight UTA batters before allowing a leadoff single to Brady Cox in the fourth inning. DBU extended the lead to 4-1 in the fourth inning on a sacrifice fly by Hall that scored catcher
Matt Duce.

The Patriots added a fifth run in the following inning, when Sweet knocked in first baseman
Darick Hall on a standup triple, and exploded for five runs in the sixth inning, highlighted by a two-run double by Hall. DBU increased its lead to 12 in the seventh inning with two RBI singles and a bases-loaded walk. UTA trimmed the lead to 11 in the top of the eighth after Cody Farrell doubled in Christian Hollie, the Mavericks' first baserunner since the fifth inning.
