THE LEAD
The Dallas Baptist University Men's Soccer team lost to Newman University, 3-1, on Thursday night at Wilkins Field in Wichita, Kansas. The Jets scored three goals in the first six minutes of the match and held off the Patriots through the rest of the match.

Jamie Barkway scored his first and second goals in the fourth and sixth minutes, respectively, to give Newman a 3-0 lead at the 5:13 mark. Michalin Dennie cut the Jets' lead to two goals in the 26th minute after drawing goalkeeper Calum Dillon out of the box and putting a ball over him for Dennie's first goal of the season.

Tyler Hofmann, making his first start in goal for DBU since September 6, made four saves in the loss. Dillon made two saves for the Jets.

- The Patriots were outshot 7-3 on goal.
 - Newman moves to 5-0-0 at home this season.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
2 - Gerson Mendoza registered the only multi-shot performance for DBU.
