Women's Soccer Wins Third Straight Heartland Conference Tournament Title

THE RUNDOWN
The DBU Women's Soccer team (15-3-2, 11-1-2 Heartland Conference) earned its third straight Heartland Conference Tournament Championship on Saturday with a 2-0 win over Rogers State (13-4-3, 9-3-2).

Leah Draper opened the scoring with a high lob from the corner of the box that snuck past the outstretched fingers of First Team All-Heartland Goalkeeper Taylor Sargent in the 10th minute. DBU's second goal came on a ball that ricocheted off of two Hillcat defenders before settling in the back of the net.

The Patriots dominated RSU defensively as well, rarely allowing the ball to spend more than a couple seconds on their side of midfield. Hope Koym did not need to make a save until the 75th minute.

THREE THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW
 - The Patriots earned their fourth straight trip to the NCAA Tournament..
 - DBU is undefeated in its last nine games.
 - The Patriots' six-game shutout streak is their longest since an eight-game streak in 2013.

COACH MICHELLE LENARD ON ROGERS STATE'S RELENTLESSNESS
"We knew they were going to try to come after us. That's how we prepared... I'm really proud of the girls. Rogers came out and gave a really good effort, and our girls just did really well today."
