THE LEAD
The DBU Men's Basketball team put the finishing touches on their season with a convincing 95-64 win over Central Baptist College at the NCCAA Tournament in Winona Lake, Indiana, on Friday.Â
Myles Johnson led the way for the Patriots, capping off his career with a season-high 31 points in the win. The victory over Central Baptist avenges a loss to the Mustangs just one week ago at the NCCAA Regional Tournament.Â
In a game that DBU (24-12) led the entire way, the Patriots raced out to a 26-14 advantage midway through the first half. A jumper by
JT Harris gave DBU their largest lead of the half at 15 points with 5:26 left until the break. The Patriots would eventually take a 41-32 lead into the locker room.
Â
In the second half,
Myles Johnson took over, scoring 24 of his 31 points in the final 20 minutes. After Central Baptist pulled to within three points in the first three minutes of the second half, DBU erupted on a 17-0 run over the next three minutes to go up by 20 at 61-41.Â
Â
The Mustangs would never draw closer than 18 points, as the Patriots dominated the rest of the second half. A Johnson three-point shot with 1:54 left to play gave DBU their largest lead of the game at 34 points. It would be the final made shot of Johnson's illustrious career and the 302nd three-pointer during his four seasons at DBU, a mark that ranks second best all-time in DBU Basketball history.
Â
The Patriots would eventually close out a 31-point win over Central Baptist to claim fifth place at the NCCAA National Tournament. The win for the Patriots matches the most wins in a single-season in school history, as DBU won for the 24th time.

DBU HEAD COACH BLAKE FLICKNER ON THE SIGNIFICANCE OF THE WIN
"Very few teams get to end their season with a win, and even fewer get to end their career that way. I'm so happy for Jordan and Myles. They have shown unbelievable leadership over the past few weeks, and all year. They will be greatly missed. This group has played through injuries and adversity with great toughness and character. I love them all and I'm so proud of these guys."
