DBU holds off Newman for 20th straight home win

THE RUNDOWN
Newman erased a 10-point second-half deficit to take the lead with 10:18 to play, but No. 17 DBU finished strong to come away with an 88-76 victory. Chandler Jacobs scored 16 of his game-high 23 points in the second half as the Patriots (15-3, 5-2 Heartland Conference) broke a three-way tie with the Jets (8-10, 4-3) and Rogers State for first place in the conference.

The Patriots made nine of their final 10 shots in the first half en route to building a 48-38 lead early in the second. The Jets used a 9-0 run featuring six made free throws to cut that lead to one before eventually regaining the lead.

DBU scored 22 points off 17 turnovers as it earned its 20th straight home victory. Boy Van Vliet and Carter Brown added 17 points apiece, and JT Harris led the Patriots with seven rebounds.
