THE RUNDOWN
The Lady Patriots (10-14, 3-4) fell to St. Edward's (13-10, 3-4) in straight sets (25-16, 25-18, 25-20) Tuesday night in Austin. Senior Kasey Holand led the Lady Patriots with 10 kills and an ace, while senior Katie Nicholson posted seven kills of her own as well as seven blocks. Senior Lauren Nicks provided 16 digs, while sophomore Alyssa Pevehouse registered 10 digs of her own. Senior Merci Perry recorded a team-high 16 assists while junior Strealy Sizelove contributed nine of her own.

DBU battled with the Hilltoppers early, trading points to ten all. St. Edward's would take a five point lead making the score 20-15 before a Hilltopper attack error brought the Lady Patriots within four. DBU called a timeout down 23-16 to try to stop St. Edward's momentum, but the Hilltoppers would score the remaining two points to win set one, 25-16.

In the second set, DBU took a quick 2-0 lead before St. Edward's surged back to control throughout the set. Kate Hendrix added to her stellar performance with a pair of kills in the set, to widen the lead to 20-15. The Hilltoppers would finish the set on a 5-2 run to go up 2-0 in the match, 25-18.

St. Edward's controlled the third set from the start, going on a 5-0 run lead by Alexa McAndrew. DBU would rally back to come within two, making the score 11-9 in favor of the Hilltoppers. After adding to their lead making the score 15-9, DBU called a timeout. After the break, the Hilltoppers kept the Lady Patriots at bay the remainder of the set to win 25-20, ending the match.
