THE RUNDOWN
The DBU Men's Soccer team fell 1-0 to Oklahoma Christian on Thursday at Patriot Soccer Field. The Patriots (3-7-1, 1-6-0 Heartland Conference) had several chances to tie the game but could not find the equalizing goal.
The Eagles (6-4-1, 4-2-1) scored their only goal in the 24th minute on a header off a deflection of a save by Luis Murillo, who was fully extended to make the play. Perhaps the Patriots' best chance to score came in the 34th minute, when Jonathan Leach leaped in the air to redirect a free ball but was denied by an equally athletic play by the OC goalkeeper. Another near-goal for the Patriots came in the 76th minute, when Travis Whitt got a shot past the Eagle netminder but was denied by a defender with only inches to spare.
Â
THREE THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW
 - Thursday was the first time DBU had outshot an opponent since September 8 against Adams State.
 - Murillo made five saves and his one goal allowed was his fewest in a full game.Â
 - Both DBU and OC recorded the same number of shots in each half.
HEAD COACH CHIP DUTCHIK ON HIS TEAM'S OFFENSIVE OPPORTUNITIES
"We generated enough chances to probably get back in it, we just couldn't find a goal. I thought we attacked well enough to at least tie the game and maybe win it, but it just didn't go in for us."
