THE RUNDOWN
It took seven turns in penalty kicks, but the DBU Women's Soccer season came to an end Friday in Canyon, Texas, in a 5-4 PK defeat to West Texas A&M after a regulation and two overtimes provided no goals.
Hope Koym made six saves, and the Patriot offense sent six shots of their own on net, but the Lady Buffs had just one more penalty conversion in them in the NCAA South Central Regional Final.
The last three minutes of the second overtime period saw each team have a chance to end the game, as
Ericca Everson's header at the 107:07 mark forced WT career saves leader Courtney Dippel to come up with a save, and a Lady Buff shot went just wide of the goal as time expired.
THREE THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW
 - DBU came up just short of its third trip to the NCAA Quarterfinals.
 - Friday's game was the 10th overtime contest for the Patriots this season and their third trip to penalty kicks.
 - The Patriot seniors finish their careers with five wins in NCAA Tournament matches.
COACH MICHELLE LENARD ON A TOUGH ENDING TO A SUCCESSFUL SEASON
"This was a fantastic season that we are very proud of and will celebrate! Tonight was a tough loss for sure. We had opportunities during the game to score and it just didn't fall our way. It was a hard-fought game to the end, and I couldn't have asked for any more from my team. This team grew so much this season and really did more than anyone expected us to. I am very grateful and always proud to coach these wonderful young ladies."
