The Lady Patriots (12-17) defeated Texas A&M International (5-21) 3-0 (25-18, 25-16, 25-15) in the finale of the regular season at the Burg. Junior
Emma Eakin led DBU with 12 kills, while seniors
Katie Nicholson and
Madeline Dolberry both recorded seven kills each. Senior
Lauren Nicks led the Lady Patriots with 13 digs while sophomore
Alyssa Pevehouse had seven of her own. Junior
Strealy Sizelove recorded 19 assists while Senior
Merci Perry added 13.
DBU jumped out early to a 3-0 lead before the Dustdevils got on the board. The two teams traded points to eight all. The Lady Patriots would widen their lead to as much as three, up 18-15 going into an A&M International timeout. DBU would stay in control scoring the two final points on a pair of
Emma Eakin kills, winning the opening set 25-18.
In the second set, A&M International took an early lead up three before DBU surged back to take the lead 4-3. The Dustdevils then called a timeout to regroup down 11-7. After the break, DBU widened their lead up, 17-9. A&M International called their second timeout to salvage the set, but DBU went onto take the second set 25-16.
DBU controlled the third set early and lead by as much as six up 14-9. A&M International then called a timeout. DBU controlled the lead throughout the rest of the set, going onto win 25-15 to complete the three-set sweep and end the regular season on a winning note.
