THE RUNDOWN
DBU remained undefeated in Heartland Conference play after defeating Texas A&M International 84-64 Saturday afternoon inside the Burg Center. After a back-and-forth first half, DBU outscored Texas A&M International by going on a 19-0 run from the 16 minute mark until 13:44 remaining in the second half to pull away with an 84-64 win.
Freshman
Carson Hughes posted 25 points while shooting 54 percent from beyond the arc, which included a huge three-point shot and the foul that captured momentum late in the first half.
TAMIU, shot only 33 percent in the first half, but DBU's defensive efforts shut down a 46 percent second half shooting by the Dustdevils. The Patriots out-rebounded the Dustdevils 31-29 in the contest, and scored 31 points off TAMIU turnovers.
Jalen White had a career-high 17 points on 5-7 shooting from the field.

"The lift Carson gave us in the first half was unbelievable. I didn't expect the game to get that much separation in the second half, but a big part of it was the way he shot the ball and gave us some space in the first half. If you don't turn it over you can get good shots and I thought we did that."
