DBU Remains Undefeated in Heartland Conference Play

THE RUNDOWN
DBU remained undefeated in Heartland Conference play after defeating Texas A&M International 84-64 Saturday afternoon inside the Burg Center. After a back-and-forth first half, DBU outscored Texas A&M International by going on a 19-0 run from the 16 minute mark until 13:44 remaining in the second half to pull away with an 84-64 win.

Freshman Carson Hughes posted 25 points while shooting 54 percent from beyond the arc, which included a huge three-point shot and the foul that captured momentum late in the first half.

TAMIU, shot only 33 percent in the first half, but DBU's defensive efforts shut down a 46 percent second half shooting by the Dustdevils. The Patriots out-rebounded the Dustdevils 31-29 in the contest, and scored 31 points off TAMIU turnovers. Jalen White had a career-high 17 points on 5-7 shooting from the field.

THREE THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW
- DBU has won 28 consecutive games at home and is 43-6 at the Burg Center over the past three seasons.
- The Patriots turned the ball over only 11 times in the game, one of the lowest all season.
-The Patriots are 6-1 since the opening loss to Colorado Mesa.

DBU HEAD COACH BLAKE FLICKNER ON A HARD-FOUGHT WIN
"The lift Carson gave us in the first half was unbelievable. I didn't expect the game to get that much separation in the second half, but a big part of it was the way he shot the ball and gave us some space in the first half. If you don't turn it over you can get good shots and I thought we did that."

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
44 - DBU recorded 44 points off the bench, their highest total all season.
2 - The Patriots scored twice as many points in the second half as in the first.
8 – Carter Brown moved up to number three all-time in steals at DBU with his five today.
