THE LEAD
No. 11 DBU finalized a three-game sweep of Monmouth on Sunday with a 13-4 victory. Tim Millard hit two home runs to help Luke Eldred (1-0) earn his first career victory.

Eldred needed only 56 pitches to get through five scoreless innings, allowing one hit, striking out five batters and walking none in his first career start. His teammates helped him by jumping out to an early lead, taking advantage of five walks to score five times in the first inning.

Millard drove in a run in the first with a bases-loaded walk and hit his first home run of 2018 in the second inning with Matt Duce on first. Millard came to bat with Duce at first again in the fourth and launched a 432-foot blast over the left-field fence to extend the lead to 9-0.

Blayne Jones' first career hit was an RBI double in the fifth. He would come around to score when Devlin Granberg deposited a ball on the left-field berm for a three-run homer.

A seventh-inning home run got Monmouth (0-3) on the board, and two infield hits and two bloop singles in the eighth helped the Hawks equal their highest run total of the series. The Patriots (3-0) added their final two runs when Jones reached on an error in the eighth.
