THE RUNDOWN
No. 24 DBU led wire to wire Saturday as it closed the regular season with a 74-62 win at Newman. The win earned the Patriots (23-5, 12-4) a share of the Heartland Conference regular season title with Arkansas Fort Smith.
Chandler Jacobs scored 22 of his game-high 26 points in the game's final nine minutes. The Patriots did not hold a second-half lead greater than five points until Jacobs' layup just after the seven-minute mark made it 52-46.
Jacobs was 8-for-9 from the floor, including 3-for-3 on three-point attempts. Boy Van Vliet scored 17 points, and Patrick Burke led the Patriots with six rebounds, while Jacobs added five.

DBU HEAD COACH BLAKE FLICKNER ON WINNING A CONFERENCE TITLE
"There is so much to say about this group, it's hard to know where to start. I'm so very proud of them. We have had to handle adversity all year and today was no different, but guys stepped up. Some guys were not feeling good or banged up, but others stepped up and filled those gaps. That's the mark of a team with great chemistry and support for each other. Boy and Chandler were incredible today and the team collectively defended well. I'm happy for our seniors. The past four years have been the best in our history and they have been a joy to coach. I'm excited that we have more basketball to play and look forward to many more postseason games this year. On to Tulsa!"
