Patriots Pick Up Road Win at Oklahoma State

THE LEAD
DBU picked up its first road win of the season Tuesday in a 6-4 victory at Oklahoma State. The Patriots (9-6) recorded 10 hits, five of which went for extra bases, as they did all their scoring after the fifth inning.

Kody Funderburk (1-1) earned his first career Division I victory with six innings of three-hit, one-run ball. He struck out five batters and walked three. The lone run he allowed came on a solo home run by Andrew Rosa.

The Patriots tied the game in the top of the sixth on an RBI double by Tim Millard. DBU took the lead in the seventh on a bases-loaded single by Devlin Granberg off a 3-2 pitch from Jake Purl (0-1), who had just struck out Jameson Hannah on nine pitches.

A bases-loaded pinch-hit single by Anders Green added two to the Patriot lead in the eighth. Blayne Jones picked up his third RBI of the season two batters later.

The Cowboys (8-7) cut the gap to two with a three-run homer by Colin Simpson. Kragen Kechely would regroup and induce a groundout to close out the victory.

THREE THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW
 - The Patriots earned their first road win of the season after starting 0-4.
 - Hannah extended his hitting streak to 16 games, dating back to the 2017 season. After a ninth-inning walk, Matt Duce
has reached base in every game this year and has reached in 68 of his last 72.
 -  Granberg has multiple RBI in three of his last four games.

COACH DAN HEEFNER ON GRANBERG'S CLUTCH AT-BAT
"You love to see two-out RBIs. We had a big situation there where we had the bases loaded in a tie ballgame... For Granberg to pick up [Hannah] there, that's something that you want to see from your team: that they're a team, and they can pick each other up."

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
4 – Four of the Patriots' six RBI came with two outs.
10 – The Patriots collected 10 hits for the fourth time in five games. Five of the 10 went for extra bases.
9 – Nine different Patriots recorded hits. Evan Sandmann was the only DBU player with a multi-hit game.
