Patriots Fall to No. 17 Oklahoma State in Extras

THE RUNDDOWN
The tying run reached second in the bottom of the 11th for DBU, but a double play ended the game in a 4-2 loss to Oklahoma State.

The Patriots (25-13) struck first in the bottom of the third when DBU starting pitcher Kody Funderburk hit a looping line drive that dropped behind the OSU shortstop and drove home Devlin Granberg for the game's first run. A wild pitch and a run-scoring double in the fourth inning put Oklahoma State (24-14-1) in the lead.

Jameson Hannah tied the game in the sixth with an RBI single off the outstretched glove of the diving OSU first baseman. For the remainder of the regulation innings, the DBU bullpen would go into lockdown mode, as Kragen Kechely and MacGregor Hines would strike out 10 of 11 batters at one point to keep the Cowboys off the board.

The Cowboy relievers were equal to the task, however, as the Patriots only managed one hit between the seventh and 10th innings. OSU took advantage of three hits and a DBU error to score twice in the top of the 11th to set up a do-or-die bottom half. Evan Sandmann led off with a walk, and Garrett Wolforth's double put runners at second and third with one out for Hannah. The Patriot center fielder grounded out to third, and Sandmann was thrown out at home to complete the double play and end the game.
